NASCAR Thumb Print All Over January Collector Car Auctions

The time has come in the collector car world for the annual round of auctions that take place each January starting in Kissimmee, Florida at Mecum and ending in Scottsdale, Arizona under the big tent at Barrett-Jackson. Each year the NASCAR world plays a big part in these auctions, from former race cars, special builds, charity items both donated and purchased, it’s not hard to find the NASCAR thumb print on these auctions. 2017 will be no different. Check out just a few of the NASCAR related item’s going across the auction blocks over the next few weeks!

Lot 1318 at Barrett-Jackson is a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette built, owned and driven by NASCAR Hall Of Famer Rusty Wallace.

Enough of that boring street car stuff, lets take a look at a few race car’s for sale!

First up is Lot 235 at Barrett-Jackson. It’s the #1 Skoal Bandit car driven by Rick Mast. This car raced to a 10th place finish in the 1995 Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis.

The last of the Mecum cars, lot F122, this is probably my favorite, “The Black Widow” 1957 Chevrolet. This particular car was drive by Jack Smith.

When you think 50’s NASCAR race car, the Hudson Hornet has to be one of the first to come to mind. This particular car isn’t a real race car, but a tribute to the legendary “Fabulous Hudson Hornet”. Lot 973 at Barrett-Jackson, check it out!

Lot 1040.1 at Barrett-Jackson has “The King” Richard Petty’s hands all over it, in fact, it is still titled in his name. This is the first “Petty Garage” car ever, a fully customized 2009 Dodge Challenger.

Lot 7004 is a 1997 Chevrolet Monte Carlo “Intimdator” Show Car. Built in honor of Dale Earnhardt, the car was a sort of prototype to future Monte Carlo styling. This car has been in the GM Heritage Collection. This is definitely a one of a kind piece!

The next two cars are examples of what make the NASCAR and Barrett-Jackson connection so special. Both these cars will be auctioned off for charity. 100% of the hammer price will go to Nationwide’s Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The first is Lot 3006, an “all new” 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle designed by Dale Jr.
