Jeep Rides: “Tennessee Weekend” Aquarium, World of Wheels, Cabin Fever & More

Time for another “Jeep Ride”! This trip will take us from North Carolina to Chattanooga, Tennessee to the World Of Wheels show. From there to Cabin Fever in Knoxville with some fish and Smokey Mountains in between!

As with every road trip you’ve got to have a clean ride. So it was off to the car wash on Thursday for a little pre-trip wash and vacuum.

We rolled out early Friday morning at 7 am. The weather wasn’t as nice as we hoped but we took it and were off to Chattanooga.

We made a quick stop along the Ocoee River for a quick photo op. This is a ride I really wanted to take in the Jeep tops off last fall and just never got around to it. These photo’s are at the Roger’s Branch River Access. I really wanted to get a little closer to the water for a better shot but as much rain as we’ve had I figured I’d be stuck or put in jail one.

But enough photos time to get back on the road. Traffic wasn’t too bad and we made it to Chattanooga around 10:15.

After tucking the Jeep away in the parking garage we made the short walk to the Tennessee Aquarium.

After the Aquarium and a quick stroll around town it was time to head to TGI Friday’s for a little food. I mean after looking at all those fish I had to have a little sea food!

After lunch we loaded back up into the Jeep and made the quick drive to the motel. We stayed at the Mariott at the convention center. I gotta say I stay at a lot of hotels during the course of the year but this is one of the nicest I’ve stayed at. The staff was very friendly, room was nice, beds were unbelievable comfortable.

View from the 11th floor.

Even the treadmills were super nice!

After a quick shower it was time to head to the World Of Wheels show at the convention center. If you’ve never been to a World of Wheels you really should check one out! Really awesome shows! To see all the coverage from World Of Wheels CLICK HERE

From there is was back to the hotel to the Kick’s Lounge. Again really great service, great food, cool place to hang out. There were alot of guys in and out from the show so it was a good time.

We were up bright and early Saturday to continue our adventure. Unfortunately it was still drizzling rain but we will take it, at least it wasn’t freezing cold. After a quick stop for breakfast we made our way across town to Tom”s 4×4 Super Store. I had heard about it on a couple of forums and figured it would be cool to check out while we were in town.

Wish I could have spent a couple of grand in here!

But I ended up buying a set of roll bar grab handles and my lovely wife bought me a set of Rugged Ridge floor mats for the front of the Jeep.

After Tom’s we were on our way to Knoxville and the Cabin Fever car show. I’d been to the show a few years back when it was still at Chilhowee Park but I hadn’t been in probably the last five years. I had started to go a couple of times but just never did. Man did I not know what I was missing! This show was packed! Tons of stuff! To see all the event coverage from the show CLICK HERE.

After the show it was off to Pigeon Forge, TN for a quick bite to eat at Cracker Barrel.

From there we were off to Floyd’s Gun & Golf, I know right, golf and guns in the same store! Awesome!

Also filled up with gas here, I had a picture but I can’t find it but the Jeep was getting 21.8 mpg at this point. Not too bad!

From there it was on to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and back to Franklin, NC.

Stopped for the obligatory tourist picture in front of the entrance sign.

Overall we went 382.3 miles and spent 9 hours and 23 minutes in the Jeep driving according to the in dash timer. It looked a little something like this.
